In Memoriam of:
Ziv Chopin
Age: 55
From: Kibbutz Be'eri
In Loving Memory of the Innocent Souls Taken Too Soon. United in peace, their light shines on in the hearts left behind. October 7, 2023, a day of sorrow, but their memories guide us toward a hopeful tomorrow.
Ziv Chopin, z"l, died in Kibbutz Be'eri, fighting the terrorists to try to save his fellow residents.
On the morning of October 7th, Ziv realized that terrorists were endangering Be'eri, he immediately started the car and flew, unarmed, to the farm. Came to help friends protect the house. Four barriers stopped him on the way. In all of them, the security personnel advised him to turn around and immediately return to Tel Aviv. Four times he refused. Four times he continued the journey. Even when the road was blocked to vehicles, Ziv did not give up and ran on foot to Be'eri.
He managed to reach the kibbutz gate, took a weapon from the body of one of the terrorists lying on the grass and ran towards the dining room. paddle to touch. Tried to save a life. There, hurt.
Ziv Chopin died, in the battle for the kibbutz that was his whole world. Two weeks before his fifty-sixth birthday.
Ziv was born four months after the Six Day War to parents who made aliyah from Tunis.
He was a very happy boy. Always surrounded by friends. Handsome. Those around him kept whispering "how much he resembles Shlomo Artzi..." As an older brother he took care of his younger sisters.
Ziv joined Kibbutz Be'eri when he was in the 10th grade. After a distinguished service in the paratroopers and some world travel, he studied refrigeration engineering, worked in the kibbutz, and was responsible for installing the air conditioners of all the old friends, who loved and appreciated him very much. Ziv had two habits in the kibbutz: every Friday afternoon he would show up for the youth soccer tournament on the grass, and at night he would come to Be'eri's pub.
