In Memoriam of:

Yuri Birnbaum

Age: 65

From: Na'ama

In Loving Memory of the Innocent Souls Taken Too Soon. United in peace, their light shines on in the hearts left behind. October 7, 2023, a day of sorrow, but their memories guide us toward a hopeful tomorrow.

Yuri Birnbaum, z"l, 65, of Moshav Na’ama, was one of three Israeli men killed in a terrorist shooting attack at the Allenby Bridge Crossing between Jordan and the West Bank on Sunday morning (September 8, 2024). The attack was carried out by a Jordanian truck driver, who exited his vehicle and opened fire at the guards in the inspection area of the terminal. The guards returned fire at the terrorist, killing him. The three casualties of the attack were employees of the Israeli Airports Authority, who manage the crossing. Paramedics arrived quickly and attended to the wounded, but Yohanan succumbed to his wounds at the scene. Birnbaum immigrated to Israel in the 1990s; he was a father of three, and his wife died from cancer about a decade ago. Ariel Mayor Yair Shitbon eulogized him: "We share the family's grief; Marcelo will always be remembered as a kind and smiling person."
