In Memoriam of:

Yosef (Yossi) Tahar

Age: 39

In Loving Memory of the Innocent Souls Taken Too Soon. United in peace, their light shines on in the hearts left behind. October 7, 2023, a day of sorrow, but their memories guide us toward a hopeful tomorrow.

Yossi z"l served in the Shin Bet Security forces and was killed by terrorist fire. He left behind a wife and four children. Yossi was named after his uncle, the late Lt. Col. Yossi Tahar, an artillery officer in the paratroopers brigade who was killed about 42 years ago in Operation "Tzilyzel" during an operation to clear terrorist cells in Lebanon. In 2001, bereavement struck the Tahar family once again when Yossi's brother, Sgt. Roi Tahar, was killed in an accident while serving in the Nahal Brigade. The father, who serves as the deputy chairman of the Yad Labanim organization, said that his son began his service as an officer in the Sheyat and only later moved to serve in the security forces, and later also advanced to a senior position in the organization. According to him, Yossi was not supposed to be in the field but chose to come to the scene after he recognized a wounded friend and tried to rescue him.
