In Memoriam of:
In Loving Memory of the Innocent Souls Taken Too Soon. United in peace, their light shines on in the hearts left behind. October 7, 2023, a day of sorrow, but their memories guide us toward a hopeful tomorrow.
Yonatan Steinberg (1981-October 2023) was a distinguished officer in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), serving as the commander of the 933rd "Nahal" Brigade. With remarkable dedication, he held various significant roles throughout his military career.
Steinberg's military journey began in August 2000 when he enlisted in the IDF, ultimately becoming a combat soldier. He demonstrated his leadership qualities by serving as a platoon commander, company commander, and deputy commander of Battalion 931, contributing to combat operations during the Second Intifada. Steinberg's unwavering dedication resulted in his appointment as commander of the 933 Brigade in May 2023.
His life was tragically cut short in 2023 when he was killed in action during an exchange of fire with Hamas terrorists in the 2023 Gaza–Israel conflict. Yonatan was one of the most senior officers in the IDF to have been killed in the attacks.
Yonatan lived in Kibbutz Shomria, and leaves behind his wife and six children.
