In Loving Memory of the Innocent Souls Taken Too Soon. United in peace, their light shines on in the hearts left behind. October 7, 2023, a day of sorrow, but their memories guide us toward a hopeful tomorrow.
Lieutenant Yonatan Golan, z"l, from Yehud Monoson, was killed in action fighting the terrorists that infiltrated the south of Israel. He was a commander of a Merkava tank in the 77th Battalion.
Jonathan jumped to fight the terrorists from the moment the sirens sounded. He and his soldiers killed dozens of terrorists on the fence and then in the Nahal Oz situation they defended with the tank on the protection of the soldiers of the Aid Company of the 13th Brigade, eliminated many terrorists until the tank stopped working.
Jonathan decided to get out of the tank last and set fire to the tank to protect his friends' escape. The friends that came out first were saved and so did the defensive soldiers. Jonathan the hero fell in battle and with his heroism saved dozens of lives.
