In Memoriam of:

Yigal Iloz

Age: 56

In Loving Memory of the Innocent Souls Taken Too Soon. United in peace, their light shines on in the hearts left behind. October 7, 2023, a day of sorrow, but their memories guide us toward a hopeful tomorrow.

Yigal z"l fell in the battle in Ofakim. Yigal served as in the bomb diffusion unit in the southern district. He is survived by a brother , wife and four children. His family says that he was a hero in life and in death, a real fighting policeman and a soldier of the land. He was expected to retire in a few months, after about 30 years of service in the police force. They realized that something was happening and asked him to return to Ofakim. When he returned, they found out that there were terrorists in the city, said his widow Ravit. "He should have been on his way home, but Yigal is Yigal. He called me and our joke was that when he's on duty, they always start. I told him, 'One more time. Hamas knows that you work on Shabbat?' I asked what happened and he said he didn't know, but there was a serious mess," Ravit added. "When there were shots he hung up the phone, and of course I didn't disturb his activity. Half an hour later I started calling him and he didn't answer me. It turns out that he was among the first murdered." Later they told Ravit that her husband was leading a convoy of police forces in the city. ""He recognized the terrorists and told the people with him 'You are all behind me, no one is passing me'. One of the people who fought by his side told me on the shiva, 'We felt that we were following our father, he was watching over us."
