In Memoriam of:

Yehuda Becher

Age: 24

In Loving Memory of the Innocent Souls Taken Too Soon. United in peace, their light shines on in the hearts left behind. October 7, 2023, a day of sorrow, but their memories guide us toward a hopeful tomorrow.

Yehuda Becher, 24, was murdered by Hamas terrorists at the Supernova music festival on October 7.

Becher grew up in an ultra-Orthodox family in Betar Illit, but chose to leave the community as he got older.

A video of Becher from a few days before his murder of him singing in his car went viral following his death. In the video, shared by his friend Gideon Igra, Becher sings with emotion the traditional morning prayer of Elohai Neshama, which took on extra layers of meaning in the wake of his tragic death: “The soul which you bestowed in me is pure — you created it, you formed it, you breathed it into me and you preserve it within me. You will eventually take it from me.”

Igra described Becher as a “boy with an open heart, a gentle soul and eyes which seek all the beauty in the world.”

His brother, Ori Becher, described Yehuda as having “sparkle, charisma and a huge heart… my little brother, I love you so much. I cannot wrap my mind around the fact that we don’t have our entire lives to be together.”

Yehuda’s father, Rabbi Yitzhak Becher, thanked God at his funeral “that I was privileged to have been Yehuda’s father for 24 years.”

His friends described him as full of joy in a notice shared by the Beit Shemesh municipality, where Yehuda’s father lived.

“Yehuda brought joy to the lives of those around him and had an infectious joy for life,” they said. “His dreams and aspirations for the future were a source of inspiration for everyone who knew him and were a testament to his unwavering spirit. He envisioned a future full of possibilities, inspired others to dream big.”
