In Loving Memory of the Innocent Souls Taken Too Soon. United in peace, their light shines on in the hearts left behind. October 7, 2023, a day of sorrow, but their memories guide us toward a hopeful tomorrow.
Sergeant Yakir Yedidya Schenkolewski, 21, z"l, fell in battle in the Gaza Strip. He was killed in a tank along with two other soldiers, Captain Eitan Fisch, 23, z"l and Staff Sergeant Tuval Yaakov Tsanani, 20, z"l when their tank was hit by a missle. At the Hesder Yeshiva of Yakir, they paid tribute to him: "'Swifter than eagles and stronger than lions to do the will of their master." With deep sorrow and a broken heart we were informed of the fall of our dear and beloved student Yakir Shankolevsky in Gaza. We do not believe that this is reality, these are the words that describe it as it really is, But Yakir will rest in eternity next to his beloved friend Eitan Rosenzweig."
