In Memoriam of:

Uri Tchernichovsky

Age: 29

From: Be'er Sheva

In Loving Memory of the Innocent Souls Taken Too Soon. United in peace, their light shines on in the hearts left behind. October 7, 2023, a day of sorrow, but their memories guide us toward a hopeful tomorrow.

Uri Tchernichovsky, z"l, was murdered by Hamas at the Nova music festival. He was a student in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Ben Gurion University.

Uri recently moved to Beer Sheva for his studies. That Saturday, he went to the Nova music festival to work as a bartender.

His mother recalls: "He had friends everywhere, he was a man of kindness, a man of virtue, of giving, compassion, love for people and kindness of soul.

At his funeral everyone talked about how much of a people person he was. When he went to India, within an hour everyone on the plane became his best friend. I was told that there was someone who lost her way in India, and Uri approached her and didn't leave her until he made sure she was okay and got on a taxi.

I heard countless stories like this throughout the seven days. The rector of the university also came to us and told us how talented he was and that they wanted to commemorate him, but I asked that his values be commemorated. There are and will be good engineers, but there are not many people with such qualities and giving to others. I was There was dirt at his feet and I had the privilege of raising such a child. This is a loss not only to the family but to the whole world."

Hila, Uri's sister, said in his obituary: "Uri is my dear and beloved brother, my life. As much as I love you, what a brother you were, you never left me alone for one moment. How much warmth and love you gave to mother and father, Hedi, and me. And not only to us, also to friends and to every person. Even one you met for the first time on the street. I never understood how you have so much love to give, where you get such an amount and how you have more left, how you don't get tired.

You called everyone brother, they were all your brothers. I will never forget once that a messenger came to our house and it seemed to you that he was having a hard time, you immediately called him brother, do you need help? But my brother is such a real one that comes from the heart, as if he really is your brother. You always protected and watched over me , you were like a big brother to me even though I'm actually the eldest sister. You were my anchor, a place of peace and calm, a bride and a kindness that has no equal in the world. You always made sure that I was well, that I was calm and happy. That there was nothing difficult for me, that everything was just fine. Even on the phone call Our last, your first words were if everything is fine with me, because I just woke you up from sleep. I told you yes and that I just wanted to apologize for not being able to give you a hug yesterday when I left, because Oren was just crying.

And of course you answered me that you saw and that everything was fine. I'm sorry I didn't give you a last hug Ori. I'm sorry I wasn't there with you during the terrible moments you went through at the party. You and I were a winning team, we always got through everything together hand in hand. You always made sure I wasn't left alone. That you were there alone and that I wasn't with you to think together about where to go and how to escape, that I didn't hold your hand and direct you to a hiding place that would take care of you. I'm sorry that I didn't take care of you the way you always took care of me. That this time I failed to make sure that you came home."

Uri is survived by his parents, brother and sister.
