Silvia Ohayon

Sylvia z"l was murdered by Hamas terrorists who infiltrated Kibbutz Be'eri. She was the eighth daughter among nine siblings. The group of siblings, whose age differences are small, was cohesive. And within the group, Nurit served as the "head" of Ila, Sylvia and Dalia, the "twin trio" - as they also called themselves as adults. Every day the brothers would walk together from the family home on Masada Street to Afikim School, with "chocolate bread" sandwiches that the mother had made in their bags. Only when they were required to enter their classrooms - they split up. Later in the day there were street games with friends. There were also quite a few happy frolics at home. Jumping on a pile of mattresses, with one of the children lying at the bottom - is particularly memorable. Sylvia's father, who wanted to be "completely Israeli", avoided speaking to his children in Moroccan and French, and stuck to Hebrew only. The mother, who had difficulty with Hebrew until the end of her life, spoke to the children in a mixture of the three languages. When Sylvia was 13 years old, when she didn't find herself in the local middle school, she moved to Kibbutz Bari, and quickly integrated into a place that seemed to her to be paradise. Mordechai and Meira Neve z"l were her adoptive family. However, her strong bond with her sisters did not loosen. Upon her release from the army, Sylvia integrated into community life and work in Be'eri. Sylvia was sporty. She loved to swim and ride a bicycle. She followed a healthy diet, and in recent years yoga came to occupy a central place in her life. The worldview of yoga added light to her world, and out of a desire to enlighten others as well, she decided to become a yoga teacher. She began studying a two-year course for teaching yoga. Sylvia was gifted with a remarkable talent for making connections with people, and also excelled in her ability to persist with them. She was a generous and warm-hearted host, and often hosted her family members as well, including her 15 nephews and 18 nieces and nephews. Each of them in turn got their turn to go to the petting zoo and the "Drom Adom". The love of Sylvia's life was her daughter Eden. Eden was born in 1997, an Silvia raised her almost alone, with the support of the kibbutz.
