Master Sgt. (res.) Sergey Shmerkin, z"l, 32, served as a soldier in the 551st Brigade’s 697th Battalion, from Kiryat Shmona. Sergey fell in a deadly blast from a booby-trapped tunnel which kiiled a total of four soldiers.
His partner Mai said over his grave that they planned to get married when he returned from the reserves. "We already talked about children," she paid tribute to him. "You were everyone's best friend, the most loved, the best, the tallest, the most beautiful"
