Sgt. Major (res.) Ophir Mordechai Yaron, z"l, of Petah Tikva, was in the reserves of the Border Patrol Corps. On October 7th, he was a member of the volunteer civilian standby squad at the Magen settlement. The squads were established under the supervision of the police in towns close to Gaza in case of just the kind of attack that happened on October 7th.
