Sergeant Ofir Tzioni, z"l, from Yokneam Illit, was a commander in the Home Front Command and served in the 51st Battalion of the Golani Brigade.
The mayor of his hometown said: "Ofir is a member of the family, the salt of the land. His sister, who is now studying in the 10th grade, asked to enlist in a combat unit. Ofir spoke with his father on the Friday evening before the disaster. In eight months he was supposed to be released and he had plans to go on to officer school. Unfortunately, everything was cut short with the disaster that happened."
