In Memoriam of:
In Loving Memory of the Innocent Souls Taken Too Soon. United in peace, their light shines on in the hearts left behind. October 7, 2023, a day of sorrow, but their memories guide us toward a hopeful tomorrow.
Major (res.) Nadav Amikam, z"l, served in the Border Protection Corps.
Nadav was a teacher of wood arts at the Yehiel school in Betel Shahar. On the Friday evening before the war, he spent Sukkot with his family members at Kibbutz Dorot and decided to return to Kibbutz Kfar Aza to look after the dog.
Nadav was killed defending his kibbutz and its residents. He is survived by his wife and 2 children.
His obituaries mentioned:
"Nadav was a carver and wood artist with grace. And more than that - he was a revered teacher, a huge soul and a very, very loved person. Only God knows how many spoons and bowls and beautiful boxes are registered in the name of his students. Children from the 5th to the 8th grade who chose the log according to who they are, according to what is in the material, and turned it into art. And all with hand tools. In the touch of wood with metal by hand and wind. My God, I can't walk past the spoons in the foyer of our house, the spoons he taught Rain to make, without sobbing. Nadav, you are one of the best people ever. A person of endless giving and volunteering and understanding that the world reaches the heart through the hands. The man who led every mission, volunteered for everything, and now he's gone. We love you very much, dear man. You once asked me to show you how I carve spoons in a different style than yours. Sorry, man, I didn't make it. I always thought there was still time."
