Mordechai z"l served in an infantry unit. Mordechai left Shabbat to help civilians in the south when he heard about the fighting and the died a death of heroes in the area of Kibbutz Re'im. Shamir is the father of Levi, only four years old, and his wife, Revital, who is in advanced pregnancy.
