Michael Lazimi

The 28-year-old Michael Lazimi z"l was a detective at Beer-Sheba police station, a husband to Gil, and the father of a little girl Lihee. On that dark Saturday, the 7th of October, he heard that terrorists had penetrated the town of Ofakim. When the sound of gunshots reached his neighborhood, Michael ordered his family to lock themselves in a safe-room, grabbed his gun, and ran in the direction of the shooting, still wearing his pajamas and slippers. As he approached the fighting, he was joined by the IDF officer Shai Abuksis, and together they charged at the terrorists. At Goren Street, Michael and Shai saw 4 terrorists, trying to get into houses and start murdering people. During the battle, Michael successfully killed two terrorists, but eventually, additional terrorists shot Michael from behind. He was a hero, in life and in death. May his memory be a blessing. Michael's younger sister, Shani, decided to enlist as a detective in the footsteps of her fallen brother.
