Age: 22

From: Shoham

In Loving Memory of the Innocent Souls Taken Too Soon. United in peace, their light shines on in the hearts left behind. October 7, 2023, a day of sorrow, but their memories guide us toward a hopeful tomorrow.

Captain Liel Hiu (22) z"l from Shoham was a platoon commander in the 51st Battalion in the Golani Brigade. Lehi, Noi and her father, the sisters of the late Liel: ""It is difficult to say goodbye to Liel, a modest and humble man, a devoted brother and a son who loves and considers his parents. He was a man of actions, one who found a solution to every problem and was always looked at with admiration wherever he went, and he was devoted to his soldiers and his mission. Whenever we saw him, we asked how he was and he answered "Let's not worry." Liel's last meeting with his father Moshe, who was at the meeting, tells Ynet: "We decided to surprise him and his company, too. His little sister and her partner were supposed to arrive at the meeting area at 20:00 in the evening, but they stayed inside Gaza all the time and finally arrived close to midnight. They came down dusty, they didn't eat anything serious for a month and a half, only canned goods - and now we cooked them barbeque. "Unfortunately, we gave them a happy banquet that has now become a memory." Moshe, Liel's father, told Ynet: "I am still digesting the difficult news that we will have to deal with. My son was a great guy. He had no special requests, didn't want to bother anyone from the family, but always just to help."
