In Memoriam of:

Joseph Avner Doran

Age: 26

From: Jerusalem

In Loving Memory of the Innocent Souls Taken Too Soon. United in peace, their light shines on in the hearts left behind. October 7, 2023, a day of sorrow, but their memories guide us toward a hopeful tomorrow.

Master-Sgt. Joseph Avner Doran, 26, from Jerusalem served in an operational mobility unit in Shayetet 13 and fell in battle in the northern Gaza Strip.
Yosef was a Zionist Jew who immigrated from France and started a family in Israel. A charming and talented person. May his memory be blessed.
Josef mmigrated with his family from France to Eilat. He and his family were very Zionist, and after elementary school they moved to Jerusalem out of Zionist feelings. He continued to do well and enlisted in the elite Shayetet 13 unit.
"He was always determined and nothing stopped him. Recently during the exams of the last semester at Ariel University we met in the library and talked. He started studying mechanical engineering - and again I saw how determined he was. He would sit alone and study very diligently.
His friend Moshe paid tribute to him on Facebook: "My heart is broken. I only recently saw you at the university after we attended elementary school together. You were a hero then, you sacrificed yourself, and there was no other Zionist like you."
Ofir, another friend, wrote: "We knew it wasn't a game, but when it knocks on your door something changes. Joseph, may your memory be blessed."
His classmate Yezen eulogizes him: Yosef, or as we always called you, Joseph. In the morning we got up and couldn't believe what we saw, how can we imagine the continuation of the degree without your smile, without our meetings in lectures, in the library, in the cafeterias... Your wide smile never leaves our minds, you were such a prince, who loved them as everyone loved him, you smiled at everyone, yes, even to people you didn't know. We will not forget your questions, although sometimes it was difficult for you, but you never gave up on yourself. Dear Joseph, you will always remain in our hearts the guy with the wide smile, who surprised us day by day, the guy who is loved by everyone, takes care of everyone. He was smiling, caring, determined and never giving up on himself, everyone without exception loved him and smiled back at him, he was interested in research, he always showed us the robots he was building at work. He would come to the library out of nowhere, and put a smile on our face, with his questions and the way he asks. I would define him as the nice warrior, despite his toughness, he never showed us where he came from and what he did in the army!! He was really humble. We will miss the sentences you would throw at us in French together with your cousin who is studying with us.
