Ishay Gertner, z"l, 23, of Modi'in Illit, was one of two victims killed in a terror attack carried out on Friday afternoon (16 February 2024) at a bus stop at the Re’em Junction near Gedera. Four other people were wounded in the attack, two of them severely.
Yishai, a yeshiva student, was on his way home to Modi’in Illit for the weekend when the attack took place. Paramedics rushed him to the Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot, but the medical team pronounced him dead on arrival.
In a funeral ceremony attended by hundreds, Yishay was laid to rest in the Elad cemetery on Saturday evening (17 February). He is survived by his father Avigdor, his mother Noa and siblings. The terrorist, a resident of east Jerusalem, was killed at the scene.
