In Memoriam of:

Evyatar Atuar

Age: 24

From: Rosh HaAyin

In Loving Memory of the Innocent Souls Taken Too Soon. United in peace, their light shines on in the hearts left behind. October 7, 2023, a day of sorrow, but their memories guide us toward a hopeful tomorrow.

Sgt. 1st Class (res.) Evyatar Atuar, 24, of Rosh Ha’ayin - 6310th Reconnaissance Battalion, 16th (Jerusalem) Infantry Brigade. Fell in combat in the central Gaza Strip.

"This is an indescribable disaster, a devastating blow to the entire family, and it is unclear how they will cope with this tragedy. A family with two children—24-year-old Evyatar and 15-year-old Itamar. They were their whole world. The two brothers were soulmates, and it’s unimaginable" says relatives of Evyatar z"l.

"He lost many friends in this war. Since October 7th, he’s been going in and out, serving almost continuously in the reserves. Recently, he told his parents he had to go back in, and they tried to dissuade him. They told him, 'Enough, you’ve seen too many tragedies. Why do you need this?' But he insisted and didn’t back down, explaining that he had to do it. And now, he joins his fallen comrades, may their memories be a blessing."

About Evyatar, they say: "He was the salt of the earth. This phrase fits him perfectly. A modest man, someone who would lower his eyes out of respect when speaking with a woman. A musician who studied music and played the guitar.

"A scout—both a camper and later a counselor, an excellent student, ambitious, and exceptional. He was the heart and soul of the family, and everyone was proud of him. He served as a combat soldier in the Nahal Brigade and, during his reserve duty, joined the reconnaissance unit Gadsar 6310 in the Jerusalem Brigade (16). What is known about this incident is that their commander entered the building first. Evyatar followed him. While the officer managed to enter, as Evyatar stood at the entrance, an explosive device planted in the wall of the courtyard was detonated, and everyone there was either injured or killed. It’s such a sad and devastating event—we don’t know how we’ll cope with it, simply put."

During the "shiva", a wave of visitors came to the home of his parents, Rachel and Eli Atuar, who shared: "Since October 7th, it was clear to us that this responsibility falls on Evyatar’s generation. Now it’s their turn to carry the burden. Evyatar, our beloved son, is unfortunately part of the price we must pay."

Over the past year, Evyatar had shared an apartment in Ramat Gan with his girlfriend of three years, Nicole Shames. The couple had already started discussing marriage and building their lives together. "They were wonderful together, and she is now heartbroken—it’s painful to see. The parents and family are still in shock, but he was a man with a constant smile on his face, a smile that has been erased in an instant, leaving behind deep sorrow and an immense void."
