נהרג בשבת שמחת תורה בעת שהגן על 2 חבריו במיגונית וספג את הדף המטען בגופו ובכך הציל את חייהם.
לאורך כל חייו היה ילד מלא שמחת חיים כאשר ערכי החברות, עזרה לזולת, כיבוד הורים, ואהבת לרעך כמוך היו נר לרגליו.
גם במותו שם את חיי חבריו לפני שלו ודאג להם עד הנשימה האחרונה.
