In Memoriam of:

David Yair Shalom Naaman

Age: 25

From: Jerusalem

In Loving Memory of the Innocent Souls Taken Too Soon. United in peace, their light shines on in the hearts left behind. October 7, 2023, a day of sorrow, but their memories guide us toward a hopeful tomorrow.

David Yair Shalom Naaman, z"l, from Jerusalem, was shot multiple times point blank at the Nova nature party in front of his partner Noam (who was seriously wounded and had to go through surgeries and physical rehabilitation).

Noam recalls:

"When one of the security men ran towards us and shouted that either we run for our lives or we stay in the field to die. Right at that second, shots started from all sides. Everyone ran. People literally fell into our hands. We ran towards two garbage containers that were there. At first we stood near but after a few minutes the shooting stopped. We decided to go inside.

Then the terrorists also came closer and we heard them speaking in Arabic. There were gunshots, RPGs, grenades and shouts of 'Allah Akbar'. It was scary. We heard people shouting while they were being kidnapped and phones ringing. All the while David was trying to text people our location We hoped that the army or the police would come to rescue us. We were there for four and a half hours. From six thirty in the morning, we were in garbage, flies and ants.

Unfortunately, the terrorists realized that there were people in the second container and killed them all. That was the moment when David pushed me deep into the bags. There were endless shots around me. I heard my David's last breath next to me and I was simply afraid to move, even though I was in terrible pain because I had been shot , but I was silent from the fear, the shock. It took me a while before I texted my sister what happened. I started recording her messages. I shouted to her that David is dead, that our friends are dead, to come rescue us. It was only when I heard speaking in Hebrew that I raised my head and saw people I knew from the party. They came to save us, but it was too late. David was murdered. The man who was supposed to be my husband was murdered next to me and with him other friends."

Noam describes David as "a boy who always lit up everywhere he went, eighty meters plus, with long blond hair that you can't miss, always smiling and laughing, always helping others, seeing everyone around him. He was an energetic, loved and loving boy. He dreamed of opening an Events Hall to make people happy."

Remembrances

Remembrances of David Yair Shalom Naaman

A life beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.

Here we celebrate the memories, the joys, and the life of David Yair Shalom Naaman.

I remember you as a young boy running around the Old City. Running through the square on Shabbat afternoon, up the stairs over the Cardo. I wish we could go back to those days. You were smiling and friendly. Sometimes I would see you at a friend's place down the street where my son played as well. I am so sorry, sweet boy.
