In Memoriam of:

David Haim Meir

Age: 31

From: Jerusalem

In Loving Memory of the Innocent Souls Taken Too Soon. United in peace, their light shines on in the hearts left behind. October 7, 2023, a day of sorrow, but their memories guide us toward a hopeful tomorrow.

Major (res.) David Haim Meir, z"l, was doing his reserves duty on a patrol as part of the General Staff. On October 7th, when news of the terrorist infiltration broke out, David and his comrades were sent to Kibbutz Be'eri, where he fell in battle along with 8 other patrol soldiers.

David is survived by his wife Anat, his son Shaked, grieving parents, and six grieving brothers and sisters.

In an article broadcast on News 12's "Studio Friday" about two weeks ago, Capt. Yadin Gelman, David's friend, who fought by his side and was with him in his last moments when he lay wounded by his side, said that fighting in Bari was "hell". "It really felt like you were in hell, fighting against pure evil. There was one more house left to conquer before the hostages were reached. As I got there I grabbed a bunch from the right. The whole squad really managed to line up and return fire and charge in the direction. We tried to charge to catch take cover and keep shooting. On the way there I grabbed another bunch from the left - me and David. We both fell there. I gave him a push so we could go under the house. I told him to hold on tight and that soon they would come to rescue us. I think he realized under the house that he wouldn't survive it anymore."
